logo NitroHeat “delivered EXACTLY what it promised”
To succeed in the Collision Repair industry these days, you have to not only do everything well, you need to have a plan for success. Meet Bill Wynkoop. Wynkoop had been in the Collision Repair industry for years already so he had observed a lot in shops he worked with. He had an idea on how to be a more efficient shop. His dream began in 2000 as Crash1 in Rockford, Illinois. His revolutionary idea was to simulate OEM in every way possible for best and most efficient results. That meant the shop had to be super clean, and you strive to only touch things once.

The cornerstone of his methodology is to paint without stopping. Eliminate buffing and mistakes as much as possible. Similar to an OEM, this requires a pristine environment. No problem at Crash1. You could literally eat off their floors!

Thanks to extraordinary personnel like painter Shawn Flynn who not only understood the ideology and commitment to no buffing, superior prep and cleanliness, he embraced it. This paint shop cranks out a lot of cars daily, but averages only 1 in every 100 panels needing to be buffed due to dirt or the occasional flaw.

Astute practices mean exploring the best in new technology. Wynkoop loved the small footprint, high performance equipment of Wedge Clamp Systems. He uses their pulling, measuring, anchoring equipment throughout his shop. The addition of NitroHeat “delivered EXACTLY what it promised” in the words of painter Flynn. He loves the fact that is saves him valuable flash time. Flynn adds, “The lower air pressure allows for a smoother spray with much less overspray similar to OEM.” Wynkoop chimes in the point that “Less air means less contaminants which feeds right into our model.” Wynkoop further adds his personal praise for owner of Wedge Clamp, Desmond Chan. “He is a man of his word. I never have to worry when I buy equipment from him as he always does what he says he will.”

Crash1 takes the saying, “You’ve got a friend in the business” seriously. As great community citizens, they support multiple local charities in particular youth charities such as their local youth soccer teams, the Boy and Girls Club, Toys for Tots and more. Crash1 is a great example of how to succeed in the Collision Repair industry. Check them out at www.crash1offperryville.com.
