WHY
CHOOSE WEDGE CLAMP?
The collision repair industry worldwide
is experiencing a period of dynamic change. One
main reason is the changing relationship between auto body
shops and insurance companies. Insurance companies and market
leading collision repair shops are developing closer business
relationships. This is evidenced by the Direct Repair Programs
(DRPs). The insurance companies are providing DRP shops
with a more consistent stream of work. In turn, the DRP
shops are providing higher quality repairs, and higher service
levels to the vehicle owners. At the same time, insurance
companies are looking to the DRP shops to help contain the
costs associated with the collision repair.
The above scenario has resulted in productivity
issues in the repair shops. "Cycle time" is the
buzzword in the industry today. Shop owners are looking
for ways to increase their production capacity or increase
vehicle throughput to reduce "cycle time" and
maintain profit margins in an increasingly demanding environment.
Their options are: increasing the productivity of the technicians,
increasing the number of productive technicians, and/or
increasing the size of the production facility, or building
another facility. The easiest and most cost effective
solution is to increase the productivity of existing technicians.
This is best achieved by providing each technician with
productivity enhancing equipment along with appropriate
training. In essence, adopting the multi-stall theory and
equipping each technician with their own anchoring, measuring,
pulling and lifting equipment.
"Equipment Needs Are Rapidly Changing"
-
Each technician needs to have his own
equipment; therefore, the equipment must be reasonably
priced.
-
As shops are required to maximize vehicle
throughput, production stall space must be fully utilized,
in addition to being space efficient.
-
The equipment must be fast and easy to
use.
-
The equipment must be strong and rigid
-
The equipment must enable the technician
to work at a comfortable height when repairing vehicles
-
The equipment must be able to be used
on a wide variety of vehicles as well as a wide variety
of repairs. It is critical that "the right
tool for the right job" is used to maximize
efficiency and productivity.
In the past, shops could be profitable
while being inefficient. Today, and in the future, shops
will need to squeeze the last drop of profit from every
square foot of production space. There are a number of products
that offer a multi-stall solution. Some of these products
are "compromise products". They are essentially
lifting devices with limited anchoring, measuring and pulling
capabilities. Others are designed to handle light to medium
repairs only. The Wedge Clamp System consists of a family
of products that have been specifically designed to offer
total repair capabilities from light to heavy hits, on both
unibody and full frame vehicles. With the addition of a
mid-rise lift, we can also offer full lifting capabilities
when needed.
Please feel free to contact us for a list
of body shops that have adopted the multi-stall productivity
theory. We welcome the opportunity to discuss your shop
needs and how we can assist you in becoming more productive.
